Why Regina Families Choose Us for Kids Martial Arts

  1. Small Class Sizes

We believe in quality over quantity. Keeping classes small means every student gets real attention, real coaching, and a great experience. No kids sitting against the wall waiting for a turn or struggling to keep up.

  2. Low Coach-to-Student Ratio
We staff more coaches per student than any other kids martial arts program in Regina — so no child ever gets lost in the crowd.

  3. A Sensible Approach
We're not a school that drills children on chokes and arm bars like a boot camp — and we're not a birthday party either. Our classes are structured, genuine, and most importantly, fun. We help build character, confidence, discipline, and compassion, so kids actually look forward to coming back.

  4. Built Around Each Child
Every child is different, so we set individualized goals and teach in a way that brings out their best. Competition can be part of the journey for kids who want it, but it never drives our program — your child's growth does.

  5. Real Expertise
Head Coach John is widely regarded as one of the best kids' instructors in Saskatchewan, with a deep understanding of how to teach every age group effectively. Every assistant coach we hire is chosen first for being a great human being — and held to a high standard from there.

  6. Safety
The safety and well being of our students is our top concern. Thanks to our local sponsors, we have Saskatchewan’s only gymnastic spring subfloor.

Building the next generation of leaders

Our Kids program is designed to provide benefits that extend far beyond the dojo by instilling core values like confidence, self discipline, real time problem solving, respect, and staying calm during conflict through Jiu-Jitsu.

Saturday 12:15-1pm
Sunday 12:15-1pm, 2:30-3:15pm
Tuesday 6-6:45pm

This is our youngest age group and a great time to start your child on their Jiu Jitsu journey.

The curriculum in this program is centered around exercises and games that will introduce our youngest students to the basic movements and core values of jiu jitsu.
Students do engage in contact and real sparring, but it is limited to keep students safe and enjoying the process.

When we believe a student is ready for a new challenge, we ask that they move into the next class at 1:15.

Goals:

- Improve behavior and ability to follow instructions
- Improve ability to focus in a group setting
- Build confidence and communication skills
- Develop and improve body coordination and balance
- Introduce basic Jiu Jitsu positions and techniques

Kids Age 4-8

Saturday, Sunday 1:15-2:15pm

This class is for experienced, older, or more competitively inclined kids. It builds on all of the goals of the 12:15pm program and also begin to incorporate a more diverse set of Jiu Jitsu techniques and skills.
When we believe a child is ready, we will ask for them to move into the weekday classes on Monday and Wednesday nights.

Goals:

- Instill self-discipline and personal responsibility
- Develop physical awareness and coordination
- Build strength, speed and balance with specific exercises
- Increased sparring time
- Use goal setting as a method for self improvement

We will continue to reinforce:
- Good behavior and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to focus in a group setting
- Basic Jiu Jitsu positions and techniques
- Building confidence and communication skills

Kids Age 8-11

Kids Age 8-13

Monday, Wednesday 6-7pm

This is the oldest age group in our kids program and is an important transitional phase as we prepare these students to enter into the adult program. It is our goal to equip them with the confidence and skill set they will need to excel and continue to grow with Jiu Jitsu into adulthood. When we believe a 12-14 year old is ready, we ask they move into the Adult class on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:45 to join the many other teens we have already in the class.

Goals:
- Establish strong and technical foundation
- Develop sparring skills
- Encourage teamwork and compassion
- Develop self-control
- Use goal setting as a method for self improvement

We will continue to reinforce:
- Good behavior and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to focus in a group setting
- Basic Jiu Jitsu positions and techniques
- Building confidence and communication skills

Bio

I started martial arts in 2005 to compete in MMA, and later placed my focus on Jiu-Jitsu. In time I exceeded what was possible for me in Regina, and traveled regularly to train with Jason Gagnon; an active competitor making waves in competitions throughout the world. My exposure to him and his team brought my desire and understanding of Jiu-Jitsu to the next level. Those years of travel and sacrifice taught me that greatness in this art requires an understanding of the truth — what really works and why, above all else — a lesson that quietly shaped everything I would go on to build.

In 2015 I started the process of opening a facility to provide Regina the program and environment I desired to have at home. As I continued to travel the world training with champions, I brought those experiences back home to help our students.

To grow up as a kid in the prairies and receive my black belt from Jason alongside a legend like Cobrinha was a dream come true. That moment represented not just a personal milestone, but an understanding that world-class Jiu-Jitsu is possible anywhere — even on the Canadian prairies — if you're willing to pursue it.

My focus is solely on the student experience and teaching. I believe in selfless service, being simple and authentic, and getting out of the way so all students have the unbound freedom to enjoy their own journey of discovery in the brilliant art and science of Jiu Jitsu.

What is Jiu Jitsu?

An outlet to burn excess thoughts, sharpen the mind and body and be nourished by an environment of goal orientated individuals. It is an ever-evolving, practical form of self-defense and stress relief.

A game of human chess, that is both intellectually simulating and great exercise. A contest, a sport, and an art, uniquely created by the individual practicing it.

Group sparring that took place after belt promotion night in 2022

“You don't need to be fit to start. You don't need any experience. You just need to show up and the rest will happen naturally on it’s own”
